The Florida High School Athletic Association released its updated playoff point averages on Tuesday, and 11 area schools have qualified for the postseason through Week 8.
They are: Palm Beach Central, Seminole Ridge and Atlantic (Class 8A); Dwyer and Forest Hill (Class 7A); Suncoast (Class 5A); King’s Academy, Oxbridge Academy, St. Andrew’s and American Heritage (Class 3A); and Pahokee (Class 1A).
Glades Central (Class 4A) and Benjamin (Class 3A) hold the fifth spots in their respective regions, just out of the playoffs.
Teams earn points based on a variety of factors, including number of wins and strength of schedule.
District champions earn automatic playoff berths through the FHSAA’s new points system, while all other qualifiers are determined based on points.
FloridaHSFootball.com breaks down the points and projected playoff seedings here.
Points will be released on a weekly basis until the end of the season.
