Last week was a busy one for the area’s top football recruits, with a handful committing to Power 5 schools.

Palm Beach Gardens athlete Jarrett Jackson wasn’t among them. But the rising senior is getting close.

Jackson announced Sunday through Twitter that he had narrowed his list of schools to five. They include Florida State, North Carolina, Louisville, N.C. State and Pitt.

Jackson, the No. 6-rated player on the Post’s Class of 2018 Big Board, plays tight end and defensive end for the Gators.

A three-star recruit according to Scout and Rivals, he has drawn nearly two dozen offers from Power 5 schools, and picked up four of those on June 8 alone.

The 6-foot-5, 255-pound Jackson is one of numerous returning starters for the Gators in 2017 under new coach Billy Clark.

He picked up an FSU offer Thursday.

If Jackson chooses the Seminoles, he could join Palm Beach Central defensive back Akeem Dent in Tallahassee. The junior committed to Florida State on Friday.

Also committing last week were Boca Raton athlete Dante Lang, who picked UF; Park Vista defensive back Jake Collins, who chose USF; and Palm Beach Lakes athlete Teja Young, who picked Colorado State.
