The 12-team competition will be held at the Wells Recreation Center, and is part of a two-day charity event that includes a youth football camp, talent show, games and free services for area children and their families.

In addition to Abe and Matt Elam, who starred at Cardinal Newman and Dwyer, respectively, this weekend’s event will include appearances by former area football standouts and current NFL players Jacoby Brissett, Curt Maggitt and Tommylee Lewis. All grew up in Riviera Beach.

Also expected to attend are Buffalo Bills tight end Nick O’Leary, Kansas City Chiefs assistant defensive coach Terry Bradden, Jr., Chicago Bears outside linebacker Willie Young, and Miami Dolphins offensive lineman Avery Young.

“This is the 10th anniversary of T.E.A.M. Elam, and we wanted to do something special to showcase high school football players in Palm Beach County in addition to our annual Day in the Park event,” Abe Elam said.

The 7-on-7 event kicks off at 10 a.m. with round-robin competition. Single-elimination play will follow, with semifinals set for 4 p.m.

Participating teams include Atlantic, Benjamin, Cardinal Newman, St. Lucie West Centennial, Dwyer A, Dwyer B, Glades Central, Lake Worth, Olympic Heights, Pahokee, Palm Beach Lakes and Village Academy.

The 7-on-7 event is open to the public. Proceeds benefit the T.E.A.M. Elam Foundation, a non-profit organization that is dedicated to providing opportunities to inspire and motivate Palm Beach County youth and their families. For information, visit www.teamelam.org.

The event concludes Saturday with a Day in the Park event beginning at 9 a.m. at Dan Calloway-Tate Recreation Center in Riviera Beach.
