The College of the Holy Cross has drawn its second commitment from a Palm Beach County football standout.

Park Vista athlete John Smith committed to the Crusaders Sunday, he announced through Twitter.

He joins American Heritage defensive end Matt Cedeno, who committed to the Worcester, Mass., school last week.

“There was just something about Holy Cross that really stuck with me,” said Smith, who visited the school in addition to Fordham and Army last weekend.

“It is a place where I can see myself succeeding in the future. I can’t wait to get back up there and experience a new environment and meet new people, especially my new teammates.”

The Crusaders compete in the Patriot League, an NCAA Division I conference that participates in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS).

Smith, a rising senior who plays multiple positions for the Cobras, helped lead Park Vista to an unbeaten regular season in 2016 and a berth in the Class 8A regional quarterfinals.

He threw for 732 yards and 11 touchdowns, and also rushed for 695 yards and 12 touchdowns for the district champion-Cobras.

After the season he was named to the All-Area second team at quarterback.
