The Illinois signee was named the Florida Dairy Farmers’ Class 9A Boys Basketball Player of the Year Tuesday in balloting conducted by a statewide panel of high school boys basketball coaches and prep media members.

Frazier, who helped lead the Wolverines to the Class 9A state semifinals, averaged 27.6 points, 6.3 rebounds and 4.4 assists this season.

Wellington finished 27-4.

Frazier received 124 points – more than double that of runner-up Paul Reed of Wekiva (61 points). South Miami’s Ezacuras Dawson finished third with 56 points.

“This is a tremendous award to receive,” Wolverines coach Matt Colin said. “It’s one of the highest and most prestigious to receive as well.

“Trent has worked hard to be the best player he can be, and making our team the best it can possibly be. This award recognizes that and puts him in an elite category.”

Frazier also has been named the FABC Boys Basketball Class 9A Player of the Year, and is a finalist for the state’s Mr. Basketball.

In other balloting, Colin finished third in Class 9A Coach of the Year voting; and St. Andrew’s combo guard Anthony Polite finished second in Class 5A Player of the Year voting.
