Ten former athletes and coaches will be inducted into Palm Beach Gardens High School’s second Sports Hall-of-Fame class March 5.
Inductees include Zach Miner (baseball); Suzie Fogleman (golf); Eric Kresser (football); Wilmer Diego (soccer); Kelley Hermann (wrestling); Barbara Gillespie (softball and basketball); Amy Parille (softball); David Castillo (football); Shack Leonard (basketball); and Tim Tharp (football coach).
Tharp, who coached the Gators from 1998-2005 and finished 56-14, was named Jupiter’s head football coach in December.
The ceremony will be held at 6 p.m. in the school’s auditorium, and will include a tribute to the Gators’ undefeated 1973 football team.
That team, despite its perfect season, did not participate in the state playoff series due to the tie-breaking procedures that awarded the playoff berth to another school.
Players on the 1973 Palm Beach Gardens football team are asked to contact Coach Joe Nubin at joe.nubin@palmbeachschools.org or Coach Richard Brown at coachrlbrown@gmail.com for details on how to participate in the festivities.
The induction ceremony is open to the public. There is no admission fee.
For information, contact athletic director Bill Weed at 561-694-7314, or Hall-of-Fame Committee Chairperson Jay Rader at 561-713-4816.
