FSU’s tough weekend just got tougher Sunday.
Just one day after the Seminoles lost to Georgia Tech on the game’s final play, 2017 Palm Beach Gardens linebacker Vandarius Cowan announced through Twitter that he was decommitting from Florida State.
The Tweet no longer was available on Monday.
Cowan, a four-star junior whose offers include Miami, Georgia and Notre Dame, originally committed to Florida State in June.
“It is my favorite school,” Cowan told 247Sports at the time. “I always grew up a Florida State fan. It is just one of those things. It made it better when they offered me. I wasn’t expecting it, at so young in high school. So it is pretty good.”
Cowan, 6-foot-4 and 220 pounds, is rated the No. 7 weak-side defensive end in the 2017 recruiting class, according to 247Sports. He is a Palm Beach Post 2015 Super 11 selection.
Cowan attended the Hurricanes’ home loss to Clemson on Saturday.
