Glades Central quarterback James Blackman will begin his college football career in Tallahassee.
The three-star recruit announced his commitment to Florida State through Twitter Wednesday night.
The 6-foot-5, 172-pound Blackman, who is ranked No. 8 on the Post’s Class of 2017 Big Board, picked the Seminoles over Miami, Louisville and West Virginia, among others.
He is the No. 34-ranked pro-style quarterback in the country, according to 247Sports.
Blackman is FSU’s second Class of 2017 quarterback commitment, according to Tomahawk Nation. The other is Bailey Hockman of McEachern (Ga.) High School. Hockman committed in April.
Blackman played a key role on offense for the district champion Raiders last season, throwing for more than 2,000 yards and 24 touchdowns. Glades Central advanced to the Class 4A regional finals and finished 9-3.
He was named to the Post’s 2015 All-Area Small Schools Offense second team, and also earned Florida High School Football All-State honors last season.
