The Connecticut senior is one of 30 players on the list, which was announced Thursday by the Palm Beach County Sports Commission.
The list includes three past finalists, 19 former semifinalists and some of the top emerging talent in college football.
Past finalists on this year’s list include Auburn junior Daniel Carlson (2015), Memphis senior Jake Elliott (2015) and West Virginia senior Josh Lambert (2014).
Puyol, who completed a standout junior season in 2015, was a semifinalist that year.
He converted 16-of-18 field goal attempts for the Huskies, including a career-high 52-yarder in the St. Petersburg Bowl, and was 21-of-24 on extra point attempts.
His 88.9 field goal percentage is the third-highest by any returning FBS kicker who made double-digit field goals last season.
Puyol was named the 2011 Palm Beach County High School Placekicker of the Year as a Dwyer senior.
This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Lou Groza Collegiate Place-Kicker Award, which recognizes college football’s top kicker.
The winner will be announced Dec. 8 during the Home Depot College Football Awards Show.
