Jimmy Robertson, a graduate of SUNY Brockport who has spent the past two seasons as an assistant football coach at Oxbridge Academy, will replace Steve Howey at the Boca Raton school.
Howey stepped down in May after two seasons with the Scots. He finished a combined 7-14, and closed a 5-6 campaign last season with a loss to Pompano Beach in the Southeastern Football Conference’s American Division championship game.
St. Andrew’s won its spring game 33-0 over Marco Island Academy.
Robertson played football and ran track in college, and started his coaching career at Hillel Community Day School, where he served as offensive coordinator for four seasons.
He also was an assistant head coach and offensive coordinator at Fort Lauderdale-Westminster Academy before moving to Oxbridge Academy, where he was an assistant varsity football coach and head junior varsity football coach. He also coached the ThunderWolves’ flag football team.
Robertson has more than 10 years of teaching experience, and will work in the Middle School physical education department at St. Andrew’s.
“It’s such a blessing, and I can’t thank athletic director Craig Ashley enough for this opportunity to be the next head football coach at St. Andrew’s,” Robertson said. “I’m so excited for the upcoming season and years to come.”
He’s scheduled to meet with the Scots’ varsity football team on Monday.
