A pair of Palm Beach County football standouts have been nominated to play in the 2017 U.S. Army All-American Bowl.
Palm Beach Gardens LB VanDarius Cowan
Palm Beach Gardens linebacker VanDarius Cowan and Dwyer linebacker Raven Saunders were among 59 players from Florida and 400 nationwide who will be considered by a selection committee for the prestigious event, which is the nation’s premier high school All-American football game.
From the nomination list, 90 will be selected to participate in the 2017 U.S. Army All-American Bowl, which will be played Jan. 7, 2017, at the Alamodome in San Antonio.
The final 2017 All-American Bowl roster will be announced in the fall.

Wellington wide receiver Ahmmon Richards, now at UM, was the only player from Palm Beach County selected for the 2016 game. He sustained an injury during practice and was unable to play, but did participate in other activities.
Cowan, the No. 1 player on the Post’s 2017 Big Board, has committed to Alabama. Saunders, who is No. 13, has committed to N.C. State.
