The Wellington and Olympics Heights wrestling teams each qualified nine competitors for this weekend’s Florida High School Wrestling State Championships.

Wellington wrestlers Jared Abramson (113 pounds), Donovan Ortiz (106 pounds), Alec Trias (152 pounds), Tyler Difiore (132 pounds), Jacob Treanor (145 pounds), Eric Saber (170 pounds), Isaac Adonis (195 pounds), Cameryn Townsend (120 pounds) and Colton Macfarlane (126 pounds) were among the top finishers in their weight classes at Saturday’s Region 3-3A meet at Park Vista.
The Wolverines finished second at the meet, behind champion Fort Lauderdale-St. Thomas Aquinas. Palm Beach Gardens was third, and Seminole Ridge finished fourth.
Other state qualifiers from the meet include: Edward Barrett, Atlantic (113 pounds); Sean Campbell, Park Vista (113 pounds); Francisco Farr, Seminole Ridge (120 pounds); Pablo Asenjo, Forest Hill (126 pounds); Anthony Powell, Palm Beach Gardens (126 pounds); Ivan Pena, Palm Beach Central (138 pounds); Noah Maher, Park Vista (138 pounds); Luke Pidgeon, Palm Beach Gardens (145 pounds); Kareem Thomas, Santaluces (145 pounds); Jarrod Smiley, Seminole Ridge (152 pounds); Liam Lapeter, Seminole Ridge (160 pounds); Jorge Loy, Forest Hill (160 pounds); Gabriel Burzycki, Santaluces (160 pounds); Manny Paules, Boca Raton (170 pounds); Johnny Raich, Palm Beach Gardens (182 pounds); Sean Edwards, Seminole Ridge (182 pounds); Kenny Deangeles, Park Vista (195 pounds); Jordi Perez, Jupiter (195 pounds); Terrill Taylor, Palm Beach Gardens (220 pounds); Brennan Hunt, Jupiter (220 pounds); and Jordan Earle, Forest Hill (285 pounds).
Olympic Heights competed in Friday’s Region 2-4A meet at Jensen Beach. The Lions placed second overall, 13 points behind champion Jensen Beach. Other area schools competing were West Boca Raton (11th), Dwyer (19th), Suncoast (23rd) and Palm Beach Lakes (29th).
State qualifiers for the Lions are Paul Steger (113 pounds); Ethan Altabet (126 pounds); Nick Peglow (132 pounds); Dan Georges (152 pounds); Laurence Kosoy (170 pounds); Troy Jaffy (182 pounds); Garrett Davidofsky (195 pounds); Alexi Castro (220 pounds); and Stefen Singer (285 pounds).
The state championships will be held Friday and Saturday at Silver Spurs Arena in Kissimmee.
