FAU’s 2016 recruiting class grew a little stronger Monday.
Atlantic linebacker Chanler Ferguson announced his commitment to the Owls, joining a handful of top local recruits at the Boca Raton school.
Other area FAU commits include American Heritage linebacker Lawrence Graham and Royal Palm Beach defensive back Da’Von Brown.
Oxbridge Academy defensive back Traivon Leonard, a junior, announced his commitment to the Owls Dec. 2.
“We have been talking to each other for while now,” said Ferguson, who also had been considering South Alabama, Middle Tennessee, Akron and Toledo, among others.
“I’ve been communicating with the coaches, and they have shown love through the ups and downs, and it just feels good to finally be a part of Owl Nation.”
Ferguson, the No. 11-ranked player on PBgametime’s 2016 Big Board, finished the 2015 season with 110 tackles, five interceptions and one defensive touchdown.
The two-star recruit was named the Post’s Large Schools Defensive Player of the Year earlier this month.
