Football: American Heritage’s Begnoche, Oxbridge’s Alvarez earn All-American honors

A pair of Palm Beach County linemen were honored Friday for their standout performances on the football field this season.

American Heritage lineman Greg Begnoche and Oxbridge Academy defensive lineman Victor Alvarez were named to the CBS MaxPreps Small Schools All-American Football Team.

Both are second team selections.

Players were chosen from schools that generally are under 1,000 students.

Begnoche, a Penn commit, and Alvarez were among eight players chosen for the All-American Team.

The others are Episcopal School of Jacksonville lineman Andrew Boselli, Jacksonville-Trinity Christian defensive back Shaun Wade, Tampa Catholic wide receiver Nate Craig-Myers, St. Petersburg-Northside Christian lineman Dillan Gibbons, Jacksonville-Trinity Christian defensive lineman Anthony Mitchell, and Trenton defensive back Hamp Cheevers.

East Lincoln (Denver, N.C.) quarterback Chazz Surratt was named Player of the Year, and Chad Worrell of Brock, Texas, is the Coach of the Year.
