Friends and teammates of Atlantic defensive back Marc’Allan Derac are among many who have shared their grief through social media after learning of the 17-year-old’s passing early Tuesday morning.
Derac, a rising senior who had multiple Division I college football offers, was seriously injured in a dirt-bike accident April 22 in Greenacres.
He died nine days later at St. Mary’s Hospital, where he had been transported following the accident.
Condolences began pouring in through social media after people learned of the news.
Among those sharing their grief were Derac’s Eagles’ and 7-on-7 football teammates, as well as area high school coaches.
Derac, who is the No. 9-ranked player on the Post’s Class of 2019 Big Board, had nine interceptions for Atlantic last season and was an All-Area first-team selection.
