Suncoast will have a new football coach when spring practice gets underway.
The school named former Cardinal Newman head coach Brian Pulaski to lead its football program, athletic director Kelli Erianne announced Thursday.
Pulaski spent the past two seasons with the Crusaders, compiling an overall record of 10-9. Cardinal Newman made the postseason in 2016 as the District 7-3A runner-up.
This season, the Crusaders finished 5-4 and earned a berth in the inaugural South Florida Catholic Bowl.
Pulaski was let go in December, and the school hired former Dwyer assistant Joe Molina the following month.
“We are very excited to have Coach Pulaski as our new head football coach at Suncoast,” Erianne said. “We feel very confident that he will continue with the success that we have had in the rebuilding of our program.
“He also brings the knowledge and understanding the demand of a rigorous academic program on our student-athletes.”
Pulaski replaces Bobby May, who left Suncoast in January after two seasons.
May went 10-9 overall with the Chargers, winning a district championship in his first season. Last year, Suncoast finished 6-3, marking the first time in more than a decade that the team finished with a winning record.
“I love Suncoast and everything it stands for, and we are very proud of what we accomplished here,” he said in January.
