Signing Day 2018: News and notes from around Palm Beach County

National Signing Day 2018 is here, and the Palm Beach Post high schools team is set to provide complete coverage. Stay tuned for updates from what will be a busy day in Palm Beach County.

Before we get started, here’s our list of student-athletes who are expected to sign national letters of intent today.

7 p.m.

It was a busy day at Pahokee, with nine athletes signing national letters of intent. They are: football players Jejuan Campbell (Northwood); Tyler Gilbert, Jarvis Blackman, Tyquan Hill and Jim Travis Gray (Edward Waters College); Zatavian Morgan and Michael Police (Savannah State); and Lonkevious McFadden (Kent State). Also, track standout Antwanique Kinsler signed with Chicago State.

5:15 p.m.

A quintet of Palm Beach Gardens players signed Wednesday at the school. They are: Jonathan Jones, Antoine Lane, Deonta’e Cooley, Armani Hayes and Emmanuelle Jones.

5 p.m.

Glades Central three-star offensive lineman Willie Canty III signed with Nebraska, choosing the Cornhuskers over Louisville. Canty was a first-team All-Area pick.

4:45 p.m.

Pahokee wide receiver Lonkevious “Keke” McFadden signed with Kent State this morning.

2 p.m.

Spanish River defensive lineman/linebacker Sam Burton signed with Marshall on Wednesday.

Also, Jupiter Christian basketball players Dion Fernander and Clay Fitzmorris signed with Broome Community College in New York; and wrestler Kyven Higgins signed with the University of the Ozarks.

1:35 p.m.

Atlantic defensive lineman Jason Mercier stuck with his commitment to Florida International, sending in his letter of intent after the Eagles’ signing ceremony on Wednesday.

Mercier was a first-team All-Area pick this season.

 

1:35 p.m. 

Both Palm Beach Lakes’ Jakari Starling and Palm Beach Central’s Tre Jackson sent in their letters of intent to South Dakota.

The two senior defensive backs committed to the Coyotes in January.

1:30 p.m.

Park Vista’s Jake Collins signed with Duquesne after committing on Jan. 30.

11 a.m.

Seminole Ridge football players Justin Allie and Maxwell Zimmerman signed letters of intent with Ferris State and Keiser, respectively, on Wednesday.

10:55 a.m.

Atlantic stars Oyeh Lurry-Davis (No. 22 on the Post’s Big Board) and Shelley Singletary (No. 45) committed to Independence (Kansas) Community College.

Both players were first-team All-Area picks as seniors. 

Lurry-Davis had 45 catches for 562 yards and six touchdowns as well as 1,117 return yards and seven TDs. Singletary had 1,012 rushing yards on 120 carries. He also scored 12 touchdowns and had 420 return yards.

10:50 a.m.

Glades Central defensive back Jamarian “Trey” Green signed with Central Florida. Green, a Post first-team All-Area pick, had nine interceptions for the Raiders.

Green, a two-star recruit according to Rivals.com, had been committed since visiting the school but kept it silent, according to Rivals. He chose the Knights over USF, Oregon State, Memphis and Pittsburgh, per Rivals.

8 a.m.

Palm Beach Gardens readies for its second signing ceremony, following one held in December.
