Cardinal Newman will have a new football coach next season.
The school has parted ways with head coach Brian Pulaski, athletic director Jay Lower said in a statement Wednesday morning.
“We would like to thank Coach Brian Pulaski for his five years of coaching with the Cardinal Newman football family,” the statement read. “His hard work and dedication is greatly appreciated.
“Cardinal Newman is moving forward with our football program, and will be announcing changes in the near future.”
No other details were provided.
Pulaski took over the head coaching position at the school in April 2016. He had been an assistant for four seasons prior to that, serving the last three as defensive coordinator.
His defenses set 13 school records during that span, and played a key role in leading the Crusaders to the 2013 District 7-3A championship. Cardinal Newman also made the playoffs in 2014.
As a head coach, Pulaski compiled an overall record of 10-9 with the Crusaders, and made the postseason in 2016 as the District 7-3A runner-up.
This season Cardinal Newman finished 5-4 and earned a berth in the inaugural South Florida Catholic Bowl.
Pulaski thanked the school in a Twitter post Wednesday morning.
“I want to thank Cardinal Newman HS for allowing me to have an opportunity to fulfill my dream of being a head coach and leading young men,” it read. “I want to thank the players, parents and supporters.
“No regrets. We won and did it our way. Good luck.”
