For the second year in a row, Friday’s Muck Bowl has been added to the Great American Rivalry Series schedule.

The game, now in its 33rd year, will kick off at 7:30 p.m. at Effie C. Grear Field in Belle Glade. The host Raiders (6-2) are ranked No. 5 in this week’s Palm Beach Post Top 10, while the Blue Devils (6-2) are No. 3.

Pahokee ended an eight-game losing streak to Glades Central in last year’s Muck Bowl, winning 27-14.

The Great American Rivalry Series, now in its 14th year, spotlights the top high school football rivalries across the country. The Series covers 40 states and over 100 cities.

Friday’s winning team will earn the Great American Rivalry Series championship trophy, which will be presented by the Marines.

The game’s Most Valuable Player also will be recognized as part of the Series, and an alumnus from each school will be inducted into the 14th class of the Great American Rivalry Series Hall of Fame.

Friday’s inductions include Glades Central graduate Santonio Holmes, and Pahokee graduate Rickey Jackson.

Holmes is a former Bears, Jets and Steelers wide receiver who retired from the NFL this season. Jackson played linebacker for the 49ers and Saints. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2010.

Also during Friday’s game, the Great American Rivalry Series will present a Scholar-Athlete Award to the senior with the highest grade-point-average from each team.

This year’s Muck Bowl is the third to be featured in the Great American Rivalry Series. The 2009 and 2016 games also were recognized.
