A pair of Oxbridge Academy defensive backs have been named to the MaxPreps 2017 Preseason Small Schools All-American Football Team.
Thunderwolves seniors V’Lique Carter and C.J. Smith were among 12 Florida players named to the team, which was released Tuesday. They earned second-team honors.
Small schools are considered those that generally play in state enrollment divisions with less than 1,000 students.
Smith, a four-star recruit who is the No. 2-ranked player on the Post’s Class of 2018 Big Board, is the No. 43-rated defensive back in the nation.
His offers include Alabama, Florida, LSU and Michigan. He previously was committed to the Gators before backing off that pledge last month.
Carter, who is rated three stars by 247Sports Composite, is the No. 11-rated player on the Big Board. He finished with three interceptions last season and was an All-Area honorable mention selection.
His offers include Central Florida, Kentucky and Oklahoma.
Oxbridge finished 10-2 last season and advanced to the Class 3A regional finals.
