Williams, who was the Post’s 2016 Small Schools Defensive Player of the Year, was with a group of students at an off-campus party when an argument escalated to a fight, according to the Winston-Salem Journal.
More people got involved, and Williams, along with women’s basketball player Tyra Whitehead and men’s basketball player Sam Japhet-Mathias, were cut with a knife, Winston-Salem police said.
Their injuries were not life-threatening, and they were treated at local hospitals, police said.
Wake Forest and Winston-Salem police are investigating the incident.
Williams played a key role for the ThunderWolves’ football team last season, registering 28 tackles, including 18 for loss, and 3.5 sacks. Oxbridge went 10-2 and advanced to the Class 3A regional finals.
After the season, Williams was named the Lou Groza Awards High School Player of the Year in a ceremony held at the Palm Beach Gardens Marriott.
