The rising junior has committed to Florida Southern College, she announced Wednesday.

Kennedy attended lacrosse camps on the school’s Lakeland campus in January and in June, and developed a close connection with coaches Kara Reber and Shannon McHale.

“I am very elated about playing for Florida Southern and having the opportunity to be coached by the best,” she said. “The players are so nice and welcoming, and I cannot wait to be a part of that family.”

Florida Southern is the 2016 Division II NCAA national champion and the 2017 NCAA national runner-up.

Kennedy is coming off a standout sophomore season for the Eagles in which she scored 42 goals, and added 86 draw controls, 12 assists and 47 ground balls.

Last month she was named a 2017 Brine National High School Lacrosse All-American, and will represent Florida at the National Lacrosse Classic this month in Virginia.
