The 6-foot-6 forward signed a letter of intent Tuesday to play at Warner University in Lake Wales.
Nelson, who graduated from Berean Christian earlier this month, averaged 13.9 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks for the Bulldogs last season.
He will receive an academic and athletic scholarship to Warner, a National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics school that competes in the Sun Conference.
The Royals finished 26-5 last season and advanced to the NAIA Division II National Tournament.
Nelson, who plans to major in exercise science, said he chose Warner because of its positive environment, and also its head coach, Sean Hanrahan.
“Coach Hanrahan builds a relationship with each player on and off the court,” Nelson said. “In addition, for the past few years, Warner’s basketball program has placed in the top of the NAIA D2 division. Also, Coach Hanrahan believes in the three B’s – books, bible, and basketball.”
