The event, which runs from 6-9 p.m. Saturday, brings Lions’ players and their moms together on the practice field for instruction, drills and play-calling.

King’s Academy coach Keith Allen and his staff created the event two years ago in an effort to provide moms a greater understanding of what their sons experience as high school football players.

“Most dads have the experience of playing high school football, and understand what it means to play the game and the bonds that are created by it,” Allen said.  “However, most moms have never experienced that atmosphere inside a football locker room.

“So we decided to give the moms an opportunity to experience what their sons go through on a daily basis. This also gives the moms another opportunity to bond with their sons and the other football moms.”

The program starts at 6 p.m. with a social gathering, and continues with introductions, chalk talk and video, warmups, instruction, offensive and defensive drills, and running plays.
