Trent Frazier’s 51-point effort against Seminole Ridge last month was record-setting.
But a Chino Hills, Calif., sophomore nearly doubled that in a game against Los Osos.
LaMelo Ball, a 6-foot-2 guard who is the younger brother of UCLA freshman Lonzo Ball and Chino Hills senior LiAngelo Ball, scored 92 points in a 146-23 victory Tuesday night.
Ball went 37-of-61 from the field, and scored 41 points in the fourth quarter alone.
His 92 points were the second-most in California high school history, according to MaxPreps via Cal-Hi Sports.
The national record belongs to Danny Heater of Burnsville (W.Va.), who scored 135 points in January, 1960. At least 14 other players have scored 100 points or more in a game, according to the National Federation of High Schools Record Book.
Chino Hills is 26-1, and ranked No. 3 nationally by MaxPreps. The Huskies average 101.1 points per game.
