Royal Palm Beach enters this week’s District 13-8A boys basketball tournament with its all-time leading scorer ready to play a key role.

Senior forward Jules Jasmin,whose third-seeded Wildcats open district play tonight against No. 6 Olympic Heights, has scored 1,407 career points at the school to take over the top spot from former guard Travis Weatherington.
Weatherington now plays at Palm Beach State College.
Jasmin surpassed the 1,000-point scoring mark in Royal Palm Beach’s season opener against Palm Beach Lakes in November, and steadily built on that total throughout the season.
“The scoring record is a fantastic accomplishment,” Royal Palm Beach coach Scott Dobbs said. “But what makes Jules so special is everything he does aside from all the points. He’s been our leading rebounder for the last three years, as well as the team’s leader in steals.
“He’s become a great passer, and he can guard every position. He’s a great teammate, and a world-class person, highly respected by his teachers and peers on campus and in our community.”
Jasmin, who hones his game in the off-season with his travel team, Savon’s Academy Stars, has signed to play college basketball at Palm Beach Atlantic University.
In the meantime, he hopes to lead the Wildcats to the regional playoffs for the second straight season.
Last year Royal Palm Beach was runner-up to Dwyer in District 13-7A, and advanced to the regional semifinals before falling 67-64 to eventual state champion Pompano Beach-Blanche Ely.
