Football: Pahokee, King’s Academy among nation’s unbeaten teams

A pair of Palm Beach County football teams are among the 178 nationwide that finished undefeated in 2016.

Pahokee, which was stripped of its Class 1A state title Thursday but plans to appeal, finished 14-0. King’s Academy went 11-0 and won the Southeastern Football Conference title.

The Lions’ Keith Allen and the Blue Devils’ Orson Walkes earned Florida Dairy Farmers’ Coach of the Year honors last month.

A total of 145 11-man teams went unbeaten this season, while another 33 that play 9-, 8- or 6-man football also went undefeated. 16,166 high schools fielded teams last fall based on scores reported to MaxPreps.
