Three parent-student information sessions will be held in Palm Beach County beginning this week to discuss the Orange Bowl Florida High School Football Showcase.
The event, which will be held Feb. 25, 2017, at Nova Southeastern University in Davie, brings together academically qualified high school seniors from Florida and football coaches from NCAA Division II, III and NAIA programs across the country.
It provides an opportunity for young student-athletes to use their athletic and academic skills to earn collegiate scholarships, and ultimately a college degree.
All NCAA Division II, III, and NAIA athletic directors and head football coaches have been invited to attend.
Student-athletes eligible for participation must be graduating high school seniors who have not accepted a scholarship offer from an NCAA Division I (Football Bowl Subdivision and Football Championship Subdivision) program. Participants must meet academic qualifications.
All information sessions will cover academic requirements, registration and what to expect, as well as answer any questions. Parents are encouraged to pre-register at www.community.orangebowl.org.
Here’s the schedule:
Wednesday, December 14 (6:30 p.m.): Palm Beach Gardens High School
Thursday, December 15 (6:30 p.m.): Pahokee Middle-Senior High School
Wednesday, December 21 (6:30 p.m.): Royal Palm Beach High School
