Kick returner Kerrith Whyte of Seminole Ridge and running back Devin Singletary of American Heritage joined wide receiver Harrison Bryant of Gary, Ga., on the team released Tuesday.
Singletary, who was named the Post’s Small Schools Offensive Player of the Year as a senior last season, played in every game for the Owls in 2016.
He finished with 1,021 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns, and was named the C-USA Co-Player of the Week following a 257-yard performance against Rice.
Singletary became the first Owls’ freshman in the program’s 16-year history to break the 1,000-yard rushing mark, and is just the third FAU player to accomplish that feat.
Whyte, a 2015 Seminole Ridge graduate and two-star recruit, played in 11 games for the Owls this season. He finished with 1,002 return yards, which is second all-time behind DiIvory Edgecomb’s 1,155 in 2007.
Whyte ended the regular season ranked No. 3 nationally in combined kick returns, and No. 1 in C-USA. His 25.7-yard kick return average ranked him No. 21 nationally and No. 3 among C-USA schools.
