Former Spanish River linebacker Shimon Hoffman has been selected to play on the 2016 U.S. Under-19 National Team, USA Football announced Wednesday.

The team will compete in the 2016 International Federation of American Football Under-19 World Championship. The seven-nation tournament will be held June 30-July 11 in Harbin, China.
Hoffman, who graduated from Spanish River last month and has signed to play football at Webber International University, is one of 44 players from around the country who were chosen to represent Team USA.
The U.S. team includes athletes from 20 states, and will compete in a field against national teams from Australia, Austria, Canada, China, Japan and Mexico.
The U.S. team took home the gold medal at the 2014 IFAF Under-19 World Championship in Kuwait City, Kuwait, defeating Team Canada 40-17 in the title game.
U.S. players and coaches will take part in a training camp June 18-24 at Kean University in Union, N.J. Games begin June 30, and continue through July 11.
