Flag football: Top spot goes to Seminole Ridge in state power ratings; five other area teams ranked

Seminole Ridge continues to pile up the points in the Florida High School Girls Flag Football Joe Pinkos Power Ratings released Sunday.

No. 1 Seminole Ridge plays No. 9 Park Vista in a Class 2A flag football regional semifinal Friday night.

No. 1 Seminole Ridge plays No. 8 Park Vista in a Class 2A flag football regional semifinal Friday night.

The Hawks (13-0) maintained their season-long hold on the top spot in Class 2A, earning 94.1 points. Tampa-Plant is second with 83.5 points, followed by Orange Park-Fleming Island (82.6), Tampa-Alonso (11-3) and Valrico-Bloomingdale (81.8).

Four other Palm Beach County teams earned state rankings this week. Park Vista is No. 8, Lake Worth is No. 9, John I. Leonard is No. 20, and West Boca Raton is No. 23.

The Hawks and Cobras play each other Friday in a Class 2A regional semifinal.

Glades Central is ranked No. 18 in the Class 1A state poll. Tampa-Robinson continues to hold the top spot, with Coconut Creek, Fort Pierce Westwood, Tallahassee-Godby, and Miami-Monsignor Pace following.

Joe Pinkos’ Power Ratings are calculated using a formula based on strength of opposition and margin of victory.
