The senior, who played three varsity seasons with the Lions, went over the 1,000-point scoring mark Dec. 17 against Inlet Grove, and finished his career with 1,368 points.

He also hit 210 career 3-pointers – including 82 this season – and finished with 293 rebounds.

“David has been a part of the TKA program since middle school, and has put in countless hours of his own time working on his game to be one of the best shooters in this area,” King’s Academy coach Nate Weston said. “I think this year, we truly saw it on display.”

Neese, who finished with a career scoring average of 17.3 points, averaged 23 points and seven rebounds this season.

He had to step outside of his comfort zone as the only senior starter for the Lions this year, Weston said.

“He has been traditionally a scoring threat first,” Weston said. “This year, as the only senior starter, he had to be a leader by example in all aspects of the game. He was a true team player this year and a complete player, not just a scorer.”
