Seminole Ridge won the Region 7-2A girls weightlifting championship Saturday in front of an enthusiastic home crowd.
The Hawks totaled 71 points to finish first at the 11-team competition, 17 points ahead of second-place Wellington. Jupiter was third with 18 points.
Four Seminole Ridge weightlifters qualified to compete in next week’s state championships by placing first in their weight classes. Wellington also will send four lifters to the state tournament, while Jupiter and Palm Beach Central each qualified one.
The top individual finishers in each of 10 weight classes earned an automatic bid to the Florida High School Girls Weightlifting State Championships, which will be held Feb. 5-6 at the Kissimmee Civic Center.
The next 12 lifters in each class from around the state also will advance.

101 pounds: Nicki Thornton, Wellington; 110: Sierra Weiner, Seminole Ridge; 119: Brooke Llano, Palm Beach Central; 129: Christina Alexis, Jupiter; 139: Chloe Odom, Wellington; 154: Cassidy Musgrove, Seminole Ridge; 169: Emma Rigolo, Wellington; 183: Anabel Fernandez, Seminole Ridge; 199: Diana Hidalgo, Seminole Ridge; Unlimited: LeeAnn Hewitt, Wellington.
