The 6-foot, 170-pound cornerback helped lead the ThunderWolves to the District 7-3A championship this season and a berth in the Class 3A regional finals.

Oxbridge finished 9-3 in its first year of FHSAA district play.

“It’s a great situation for both FAU and Traivon,” ThunderWolves coach Doug Socha said. “He wants to be part of building that program.”

Leonard, who also has a South Alabama offer, joins a long list of Palm Beach County athletes who have either committed to or signed with the Owls since Charlie Partridge took over as coach two years ago.

Those players include quarterback Daniel Parr (Dwyer), defensive back Kemar Downer (Palm Beach Central), Athlete J’Quan Napier (Palm Beach Gardens), defensive back Jalen Young (Seminole Ridge) and quarterback Raymond Rizk (Pope John Paul).

2016 American Heritage linebacker Lawrence Graham committed to FAU in June, while several other 2016 Big Board players have received offers from the school.

Leonard finished the season with 33 tackles and three interceptions.
